Dwarf Hamsters ~ Sad News
I have some sad news to tell you. Last Sunday we had to split up our two Dwarfies, Kipton and Bingley. They had a few squabbles but nothing too serious, but when we went in to get out them we found Bingley with bites and cuts over his rear and a bite on his leg. I think this is because of all the smells of other hamsters at the show, which was the day before, as when we had put Skooli (another WW) in the room they had seemed rather unsettled so we moved him out. I am really sad that we had to split them up as I really like having them together and holding them together, but I suppose it is for the best. Kipton is now in a new cage and Bingley is in the Gabber. He seems a lot more settled now and is coming out of his shell, but seems a bit confused about where his brother has gone. His bites are healing up nicely, and I just hope he will be all right for the next show (he got BIS at the previous). Kipton is pretty much the same as always, but doesn't seem to have discovered the platform in his new cage yet.
I was hoping I would never have to make this post, especially when they were both still so young, but it is for the best and I hope they will be happier on their own.

Ah Pophammy I'm sorry you have had to split them up. I have no experience of dwarfs but if they are causing wounds it has to be for the best. At least you gave it a good try, I hope they soon settle down on their own.

Aww poor boys, and poor you PH. They did last a good time together though, from all the stories we hear lately. Much better for them to be happy and healthy apart than stressed and angry together.
You may have something there about the show, I dont know what dwarf experts would say, you'll have to ask them at the next show.
Hope Bingley's bott heals quickly!

Sorry to hear this, Pophammy, you know you'e done the right thing as you can't leave them together once they fight seriously. I remember being really stressed about Sparrow and Turner's fighting before blood was shed, they are both happy now on their own and I'm sure Kipton and Bingley will be as well.

Bingley is healing up nicely now. You can hardly see anything except a little ruffled fur. He has lost a bit of weight however which shows that the separation has indeed stressed him I think. Kipton is the reverse however and has gained weight and seems very cheerful in his new home which has some nice ramps and things to climb on. Isn't it odd how the submissive hamster still suffers more from the separation from the bully Now Pophammy wants to get him a WIFE!
