Default Vibrating (Purring?)

I noticed one of my dwarves does this vibrating thing when I hold her. Is it because she is happy or not? It's not a chirp but moments of a vibrating.

My Syrian vibrates when she's having a major sniffing session.

I'd really like to know this too!!! Charlie does it when I pick him up, I'd like to know whether it's because he's scared or happy!

No all our dwarfs have done this - we call it 'buzzing'. I don't think they do it when they are happy. To me it seems more associated with being unsure about something and a bit scared or being excited eg when they smell a lady ham. I've never had one buzz when they are just sitting contented on your knee.

Tessa does it a wee bit :S
Does it mean I'm doing something wrong?

I highly doubt it hon Hamsters are prey animals so naturally nervous

Good description.."buzzing"..YES..that's exactly what she does..the thing is my other dwarves (winter whites) don't do this..you're right..if she's on my knee she doesn't do this..only when I have her in my hand..she does this buzzing now and then..but it's noticeable..would like to hear more about this..

It sounds like a version of the clicking noise syrians make when they're irritated (just coming from a smaller body).
