Default is there away to stop one of my hams making a mess

i bought athena a wire gerbil cage when my 2 started fighting. but when i cleaned her out yesturday she has started to construct a sereis of tunnels in her enclouse normal behaviour i know. but the thing which bothers me is the mess. is there a way to prevent this.

Could you perhaps in the short term place the cage in a cardboard box that is larger than it to catch the 'overspill'? That's the only thing I can think of....
....if only I could place a large cardboard box around my daughter - she gives me the same problem - mess everywhere!

The wire cages allow the bedding to spill out. Maybe a clear plastic bin to sit the cage in so you could still see her would help?
