Question Please help - scrapping out flooring.

I've had my Syrian a month now, and she settled in fine to her new home/cage.

But a week or so after I cleaned her out the first time, she managed to kick/scrap practically all the Megazorb flooring out of her cage through the bars!
I put it back and she does it again and again, and I have no clue why.

She has enough food, things to chew on, interaction with me etc.

I cleaned her out for the second time yesterday and thought she'd be ok in a clean cage but this morning I discovered she had done it again.

The only thing I can think of is she does it because she wants to dig? But I have a box for her filled with Megazorb for her to scrap in but she's not very keen on it.

Any tips/ideas?

Thanks.

Sorry, I couldnt help but laugh! Talk about a messy hamster!

To be honest, the only solution I can think of is a tank cage rather than a barred one.

It could be possible she doesn't like the megazorb, might be worth switching substrates, see if it makes a difference.

has she got an area without megazorb to sit? maybe it's the feel underfoot? my hammie likes to clear an area to sit on the cage base to do his grooming thankfully it's not the whole lot!

As StarlightSerenity said, I think you better switch bedding, I remember Coco wouldn't like her carefresh and the floor got so messy I would hoover it everyday xD

Some just do that! Our Mattie digs all her megazorb into a huge volcano over the top of her bed shelf and leaves the floor clear!! You could try getting a large box and sitting the cage in it. It keeps her busy though doesn't it? Better than bar chewing!

Gloria used to do this every night for several weeks when she was an adolescent ham. She was just being a brat, I think she knew I didn't have time to fix it every morning before class and liked getting me frustrated, lol

Maybe instead of changing cages, just put cardboard aroung the lower bars to prevent her from pushing the bedding out of her current cage. I do this with messy hams, and I weave thin cardboard like from a cereal box in between the bars to deter my hamsters if they go through a bar chewing phase.

Card board is my go to for solving hamster behavioral problems! So versatile and if they chew and destroy it, it's no big deal
