Exclamation Serious problems with Aizen

So it's been about 3 weeks since Luppi's death and Aizen is acting seriously strange. Something about Rin (my new Syrian hamster) or her smell or something is ticking him off coz I can't think of anything else it would be.
He's been sulky and untame, last few nights he's suddenly started chewing on the bars of his cage and then this evening he bit my mum really hard and made her bleed. =/ He doesn't seem to be unwell or in pain so tonight I'm trying to see if keeping Rin in another room will calm him down or not but I'm at my wit's ends. He still seems okiie when I handle him so I don't know why he flipped out at mum.
Has anyone got any other ideas what could be wrong with him? I'm really worried about him. :'(

They can go through behaviour changes when a cage mate is lost!
Peggy, after Dot died, became a vicious bar chewer and she was moved into a ZZ2 to stop this. She was also very hyper and demanding of playtime. But it had the oppostite effect on her tameness as she became much more sociable and loving towards me

I can certainly imagine a syrian smell sending him wild, try to be really careful about thoroughly washing hands inbetween handling and keep the cages far apart if possible

I do wash my hands. I'm just worried though coz I have 12 cats atm so I can't put them in another room forever coz my room is the only properly cat proof room. I've changed the study for a night just to give him a break. He gets so wound up it upsets me just to watch him, I guess I'm just too protective of him because of things with Toshiro in the past.

I feel like I'm being really silly getting upset. lol.

Things didn't get better after moving Rin. He bit me yesterday pretty bad and drew blood. I washed my hands before hand and even changed clothes lol. But when I opened his cage up and put my hand out for him to climb onto he bit me. I was a bit tearful but not because it hurt just because I was so shocked.

How is he with eating/drinking/pooing?? and how old is he??

My hamster was unwell for a few days and bit me, he was being very sleepy not eating but then after 3/4 days he was right as rain! Maybe he just has a little bug about him, or as some one else said the scent on you?

He's a year and 3 months old and he's eating, drinking and everything else is fine. He was still wound up and chewing and scratching. I've put treats in and put a few of his favourite old toys in there as well. Nothing seems to be making him feel better.
