View Full Version : Advice please....... which sort??

Hi,
I've had my gorgeous Russian dwarf Millie for 4 weeks now. She is just so cute & friendly, loves to be stroked & take food from my hand. I have just started taking her out of her cage & letting her explore my lap!

I have been doing lots if research on them through the net,books and of course on here!
I just cant work out whether she is a Cambells or WW?? She was brought from Pets at home and was sharing a cage with 2 others if that helps.

Simple answer, shes both ;)
All russian dwarfs from pet shops are hybrids, which are a cross between the both :D

you'd be lucky if you got a pure breed from pets at home. as both wws and campbells are under the heading "russian dwarf hamster" hmmph, thanks pets at home :L
i mean u'd be lucky to get a purebreed - let alone a pure breed winter white as they're rarer. hybrid i think.
and mind you its not a good idea to breed campells and wws ccus i think its the winter white has difficulty giving birth to the campbells as they have larger heads i think. so alot of wws die during childbirth if they have beeen mated with campbells :( sad, but anyway. yours seems to be doing well - thats all that matters :)

IF she is a winter wite then i think she's a sapphire coloured one - But the side stripes arent very obvious so i'm guessing a campbell / or campbell cross. most likely campbell with ww genes in it. so typical of p@h to put them together :L annoys me! thats why i prefer to buy hamsters - well especially russians from breeders.

She's the winter white look russian - and is the normal colour, not sapphire.

she looks like winter white russian and a lot like normal agouti color:)
