Ok, so my younger brother is pretty much a handy man like my dad. He was bored 2 days ago and asked me if he could make something for Carmelo. I really wanted a little house for him and so my brother made just that. It is made out of plexi glass and has epoxy glue, but Carmelo will hopefully not chew it, because it is really hard to get off! (you can't even get it off with a razor knife!) It's simple to clean and Carmelo seems to like it!

Here is some pictures and a video of the house: (It may be hard to see because it's clear!)

Yes, it has a ladder so he can go to the top, although he prefers to climb...hee hee silly hammie!

He is a bit of a mountineer is Carmelo! I think the house is great and I was just thinking it would be useful for a mum with pups as you could see the babies through the glass without disturbing mum at all! Mind you knowing our mums they would choose to hide them in a covered corner rather than a nice nest box

How about making a plexiglass hamster sandbath? :) Or hamster loo I suppose! Just a square box with either a flat roof, or a triangle, house shaped roof and a round hole for the front door? A bit like those Super Pet Chinchilla sandbaths? Those are great, but huge! We need a hamster equivellant!!!

Why don't you write an article on how to make it and send it to snuggleham? I'm sure that everyone would enjoy reading how to make it!

what a brilliant idea - please do write a mini article - we would all love to read how it was done. Please tell your brother well done from me.

Another good way to seal glass or plastic, is to use aquarium sealant, rather than glue? I think it would stick better especially when washing out the container as it's meant to withstand water, where glue may fall apart through time? Just thought I'd add this incase it's something you wanted to change!

Any if you notice any signs that your hamster has been nibbling at the glue/sealant to sadly remove the article. It is best if you can somehow bolt things together, or use only enough fixative to seal the edges without much squeezing out and becoming exposed. As hamsters' teeth are constantly growing they are always looking for things to chew on. You can also smear some citrus juice, such as lemon or lime along any edges you want them to leave alone.
Most hamsters are totally fine but there is always the one annoying one who will try to eat anything...
