Ok, so in the older cage picture, I was thinking of moving the tunnel and putting a sand bath in there...what do you think? Can I use play sand? or do I have to use the chinchilla stuff? What brand do you prefer?

Do you think I need more toys in my cage? Because it's kinda hard, I have a Syrian and some toys he probably couldn't fit in! Any toys that you recommend? If so, where do you find it? or just leave a link...

Hiya. I love the second photo with hammie hanging off the glass! His wee face is hilarious!!!

Your Wodent Wheel I would place to the left hand side of your tank (at the short end of the tank as apposed to placing it against the back wall) I think this will be better space wise.

The straw nesting house I would have at the other end (where you already have it). Food dishes anywhere really! And coconut crunch tunnel in the centre somewhere? You can also buy cardboard parchment tunnels.

There are levels to could buy to give hammie another level inside the tank as he/she looks as if climbing is fun, although not too high incase of falls. A cheap idea would be this. Get two flat stones. Place one safely at each end of your tank. Get a new long piece of wood and place this onto your flat stones. You can also saw a piece to fit the length of your tank.

Only make this tall enough for hammie to hop up onto and you can place a food dish on here for hammie. Should be easy to put together! Do you know what I mean?

fill the central area with empty toilet roll tubes, cover some with the substrate this will cretae a bumpy surface to walk over and through.

Here are some new pics of my tank from yesterday:

I was thinking of taking the hut out and putting a tuppleware container there and out sand in it for his sand bath...what do you think?

Why not give it a try. Does he sleep in the hut? If so I would leave it in other wise try the plastic box of sand. We change the toys and set up every few weeks to add more stimulation to the environment. If you have any plastic pipe from the plumbing store they love to run through that especially the bits with bends & T junctions!

I will, sometimes he sleeps in the hut, sometimes he sleeps in the corner, so maybe I'll take out the plastic playhouse and switch every week or something...do all hamsters like sand baths?

I guess not every hamster will like the sand. Ours have always but I think the mums teach the babies so it is passed on  They usualy show an interest atleast initially but then may grow bored of it. You can but try and find out.

Here is a recent picture (today) of the cage: http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k78/x ... 0_2233.jpg (http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k78/x3Rissax3/Carmelo/100_2233.jpg)

he likes to go to the bathroom in it, but I don't know if he likes to clean himself in it...

Well that does look good now. He is a lucky hamster. Even if he uses the sand as a potty it is good as it will save you cleaning so often  I bet he has a private bath when you are not watching!

Oh I am so pleased he is using it in some capacity at least and you are right he is probably using it when you aren't looking - hopefully one day you will catch him in the act

Here are some new pics of my hammies house!! I cleaned it tonight.

I am out of sand, so I put in the tissue box instead...I would like to change it around a little better, but do you have any ideas?
