Sorry another thread... Well as you have guessed I am making a bin cage, I want to make a second level and was thinking of using a piece of wood... Can I just use a 'random' piece of wood?
Thanks!

http://www.hamstercentral.com/community/diy-do-yourself-hamster-projects/7992-how-add-another-level-cage.html this might help, its a bit easier than wood thats for sure.

well if the edges are smooth and you can attach it i don't see why not.
But you may want to use plasticoted wood, or plasticote it yourself to avoid it getting messy :)
But it may be too heavy for the plastic to support

I suppose you could get a piece of wood and put somethin under it for a support !

another option is a free standing wooden shelf. Like the trixe guinea pig shelter or hamster steps
