For the last couple of months whenever we have been in Pets at Home there has been a little russian winter white called Nibbles in the adoption centre and it broke our hearts every time we had to leave him. Anyway we had a shuffle round of cages and adopted him tonight. He is not that old and is still tiny and was apparently returned for being bitey which is a load of rubbish. Probably means some little child grabbed him. Anyway he is settling in well and seems happy. Will post pics when I get a chance to take some, he is in bed at the mo. We have him in a spare peggy metro but will get a better cage at the weekend :)

Thanks a lot. He was so friendly last night, came out three times for cuddles and was looking for us all the time. Loves his wheel too though will upgrade to a bigger one soon, hopefully when I get Bella and Daisy wodent wheels, he can have one of their ones. He is so tiny though and skinny, not sure how much he was eating, he'll put on wait quick with us though.

Thanks Annie81. Getting him a ball on the way home so he can have a run later. Don't like the balls they sell in Pets at Home anymore though so will go elsewhere. Bella had one and managed to pull the entire bottom of the hall curtain into it and shred it in about a minute flat - the slits are too big. That's before she chewed her way out.

Should be able to get one in Jollyes, if not our Focus have a pet section which sells them too.

aww bless him - what a friendly little face! Time and time again the little hamster that are 'vicious' and bunged in the adoption centre turn out to be nothing like that - poor little mites just need some proper love and kind handling!

Yeah, I always feel so sorry for the ones that are labbled as vicious, or that they bite, usually it has more to do with the owner than the ham :-(

Exactly, it makes me so so mad. Poor little George was grabbed by a child and it has really affected him. A year later he finally likes us but it took lots of time and patience.

What a handsome little fellow he is and look how friendly too :)
Biter? Piffle...they previous owners don't know what they missed out on.

Thanks Souffle, they have missed out on the perfect little hamster. Put him in his ball a little while ago but he was not too sure what to make of it. Didn't help that Daisy kept trying to ram him.

Hehehe! Silly ham. It took Boris a while to work out what his ball was all about. He spent a lot of time rocking backwards and forwards! But he loves it now and has taken to raming my cat - who incidently leaps in the air and runs away! She is a silly thing too!

Porridge just doesn't understand the ball!
"why should i run in this when you normally let me run round the bedroom and bathroom?"
He just sits there refusing to move :)

Ha ha Hope, I have visions of your cat leaping in the air now.

Nibbles went back in her (yes we now think she is female) ball last night and has mastered it, she was running about for ages. So cute.

Aww! Well done Nibbles! They do look very cute when they are running like crazy!

Yep, your vision is about right! She does leap right up into the air and then runs away. She is completely insane though, a teacake short of a picnic - bless her!

Aww she sounds lovely. My Mum and Dad's cat is scared of hamsters too I think. When they go to stay when we are on holiday he stays well clear.

I think its the ball and the motion of it rolling towards her that frightens her. If Boris was let loose around her the fear would be gone and the insticts would be back!

My older sister's cat was terrified of hamsters, she got too close to my sister's hamster (hamster was in her cage) and got bitten on the nose. After that she steered clear.
