Hello!
I've never owned a hamster before, but I do have experience with other small pets. After doing a good amount of research, I think I'm ready for a Syrian.
I have bought the biggest wire cage I could find and I have set it up, and I think I am now ready to begin the adoption process.
I looked on the web to see where I could adopt a young Syrian male (as apparently they are usually calmer than females) and I couldn't find any places. Maybe I'm just terrible at researching, but are there any Syrian hamster breeders/rescuers in or around North Carolina? What's the best place to adopt one from?
Thank you in advance for your help! It's always better to ask people with more experience about these things

Hey hey as a fellow NC dweller XD I only know of one, https://poppybeehamstery.com/
She is super friendly from all interactions I have had with her. I haven't got a hamster from her yet, but she's who I've been looking at for getting a syrian in the future. She has a facebook page as well that I can link for you if you would prefer that, she posts updates as well as cute stuff there.
I also know of rescues if you would prefer rescues :)

Don’t discount a female, in my experience just as sociable, they are harder to keep amused so you may find more in need of new homes, but if you have a big enough cage and lots of stimulation a lady will give you lots of love and affection
