My ferocious wee beastie made his way to the rainbow bridge on 27th January :( I knew on Saturday that he didn't have long left as he seemed very unaware of my presence. Normally when he's sitting in his bowl and if I go to add some food he whips around to see what's going on but he didn't on Saturday. Despite knowing that time was running out it was still a shock to find him in his forever sleep on Sunday. He looked very peaceful, just like he was sleeping and I'm glad he went peacefully. It's probably the only time he's done anything peacefully in his life ;)
I had thought that loosing Artie wouldn't be so bad because every day I had with him after his second birthday in October was a bonus, but it has hit me very hard all the same. Somehow it never seems long enough even though I am very grateful for the time we had with him.
Artie you were always such a character, scared of nothing and nobody. I remember watching you swagger around your cage when we first got you and thinking how different you were to the others. You looked like a little muscle man, always so determined and feisty, nothing ever stood in your way or was going to get the better of you, be it the monkey nut or the whimzee crocodile or someones finger. You were very much in charge and I loved you, and even if hamdad was still scared of you he loved you very much too. I remember when your cage was near Boris's and you two would run on your wheels then stop and look in each others directions and then start running again. You had quite a few neighours in your time, Boris then Max then Jaska and finally Feliks. When you moved you beside Max you caused so much vibration when you were running on your wheel, that we had to get NASA approved pads on the bottom of your cage to stop the vibrations from disturbing Max! You're the last to go of our original five guys and we'll always remember, love and cherish you Artie. I know if you were here you'd be sitting looking at me with you're eyes narrowed saying 'ok mum, you're getting boring now, I know I'm awesome, tell me something I don't know'..so I'll leave it at that because he's right, as usual, I think I've spoken for long enough.
Rest easy at the bridge beloved Artie, sleep well and have fun with your brothers and friends. I expect you're probably swaggering around like you own the place already xxx
