Hello! Unfortunately where I live, it's almost difficult to get a hold of a Syrian, or hamster in general. The closest PetSmart is 120+ miles away! :-s I'm not against doing a little traveling, though. Thank you for any recommendations!

I'm from Iowa too! I personally don't know of any breeders and when I've looked it up only found people in Illinois but that was just my online search. I know pet co also has Syrians. That's where I got my girl from. There might be one of those closer than pet smart! You can always ask you local rescues or look at their online adoptable animals and maybe you'd get lucky! I looked around when I was trying to get my girl but none of the local shelters had any.

The closest ethical breeder is Nantucket Hamstery in Illinois. Sometimes the ARL of Iowa have Hamsters in. They do have some in, such as Satine, a Grey Hamster that's 6 months old.

Thanks for the replies guys! I actually called the PerSmart, and they have FOUR Syrians for adoption ☹️ So I’ll be making the drive to adopt one this Saturday, and it’s been the longest week ever while I wait! I really appreciate your time and the replies, they were actually really helpful.
