Firewood for diy wood toys?

We have a lot of fire wood thst we can't use anymore as our fireplace can't be used.

If i boiled the wood after drilling some holes in them can i use them as little hideouts or chew toys?

I wouldn't use it, you can't be sure what kind of wood it is & woods like pine need to be kiln dried to be safe.
