Is non-toxic acrillic paint safe? If not, is there any homemade paint I can make without the fruit and veggie thing because it doesnt seem to work?

No acrylic paint isn't safe.
I'm not sure any home made paints really work tbh.
In the UK the paints most people use are plastikote water based enamel paint & cuprinol garden shades paint.

what kind of paint is safe? ive heard soy is but i dont have any. is apple barrel paint safe it is non toxic and water based what do you think?

It still wouldn't be safe.Non toxic doesn't mean 100 percent hamster safe,some things could source artificial dyes for pigments or other questionable ingredients despite claiming to be non toxic(like Elmer's glue which uses synthetic petroleum).

DIY dyes using hamster safe foods are much better,and take the risk of taking unnecessary chances out.Soy paint for example doesn't have an ingredients list or MSDS so it's questionable at best :(
