Hi everyone,

I was given the idea on a previous thread to fill in the gaps of the ladder, so my little ham wouldnt get hurt. I was going to just use lollypop sticks, but Ive seen a youtube tutorial with someone making an emery board tower. Do you think it would be ok to use emery boards instead to fill the gaps and are they safe for hammys to climb on and file down their nails?

Pick is of the ladder, emery boards and also to check if the pva glue is ok for hams

Thanks in advance x

Emery boards are definitely not a good idea. They're rough and just like sandpaper would easily cause a hamster to get irritated paws :(

Instead, use something like a terracotta/clay pot or resin reptile hideout. Those examples would be safe and generally do have an impact on nails.

Ok I'll use the lollypop sticks then, thanks. Is the glue safe to use?

Elmer's glue would be the safest option, unless you can find a PVA brand that is also synthetic based rather than using actual animal parts.

The glue is suitable for children, so could also be ok for hamsters. Don!t use too much and if it gets chewed too much remove the toy.

Ive just used a little bit on each side, dabbed on with rhe end of a cocktail stick. I will keep an eyebon it to see if she is chewing it.

Here's the finished ladder
