I've had my Syrian, Imogene, since mid-October and finally got around to making her a large bin cage earlier this month (the poor girl had been making do with a 20L tank). The bin I used is an IRIS Christmas Tree Storage container with an interior bottom measurement of 48Lx17.5W (840 square inches); with the deep lid on, it's 14.5" high, tall enough to accommodate a new Carolina Storm Wheel to replace her smaller comfort wheel plus deeper bedding.

To create the bin cage, I cut out a 30x15 piece from the lid and replaced it with 19-gauge steel hardware cloth (1/2" mesh), attached to the lid frame with machine screws, washers and nuts on the short ends and plastic zipties on the long sides.

The finished product may seem a bit bare but Imogene isn't very interested in toys, preferring bendy bridges and wood tubes to scurry through (and chew on), her beloved wheel, a few scattered chewable items and a dangling bird toy made from coconut shells. Her hide is a raised wooden platform, the top of which holds her food dish and treat bowl. She's been very happy in her new home and spends a lot of time tunneling, popping up here and there like a little groundhog
