Hi everyone. I would just like to say good bye to Peanut. My beautifully perfect light grey and white syrain hamster. I bought her from pets at home after my other hamster had died at the age of only 8 months due to stroke ( bought from pets at home).
I noticed this morning Peanut was shaking and walking funny, she was also drinking a lot. This afternoon she was extremely lethargic, would let me stroke and even pick her up ( she wasn't tame yet) and wouldn't even move. I immediately phoned pets at home and was told to bring her down to their vets. So at 3. 45 pm today I bought Peanut to the pets at home vets. The very kind vet told me she was in severe pain( due to a problem inside, but unknown) and the only kind thing to do was to make the very hard decision of putting her too sleep. It was a heartbreaking decision but it was for the best. I had only had her TWO WEEKS exactly. I advise anyone who is looking to buy a hamster from pets at home to check their area for proper breeders or rescue centres before buying from pets at home. Unfortunately In my local area there is no hamster breeders and no rescue centres had the right hamster for me at the time.
R.I.P Peanut, such a short time together, but a time I will never forget. A great beautifully, coloured hamster, funny and very intelligent. A hamster that I will never forget.
Thank you for reading

RIP Peanut - I am very sorry for your loss :(. It must be heart-breaking for her to be PTS. I am sure she had a wonderful two weeks with you whether she was tame or not.

RIP :(

She was a very beautiful hamster who was lucky to have such a caring owner.

I'm so sorry you lost your lovely Peanut so soon Jazza, it's always very hard to lose a ham but so young is especially heart breaking.
Her short time was full of love take comfort in that.

Jazza, so very sorry to hear of Peanut's passing, so shocked that you only had her 2 weeks. But, in that time you gave her so much love.
Thinking of you at this very sad time and sending you big hugs xx

Sorry for you loss after only 2 weeks. That would be so hard, especially seems like you bonded already. It's hard to tell if it's just a fluke you got sick hammies from the pet store or if there are many sick animals in their stores? I bought 4 Russians from the same pet store chain & they all had blood sugar problems plus a lot of other health problems. Maybe it's just me picking out the sick ones? Idk?
