Sweet little Meeko, we will miss you xxx

So last night I was just off to bed at around 11:30 and saw Meeko weakly foraging for food. I knew that this was going to be her final night, so I knelt next to her and had my hand on the glass to get as close as she would let me without getting stressed, so I knelt for around 5 mins as I got really tired and started to say my goodbyes to Meeko, I had a little bit of hope in me that she would survive the night. So at around 3 am I woke up to the dog howling, now she NEVER howls so am wandering if she knew Meeko had died then as it was around that time I believe she died as I woke up and couldn't hear her but thought she went to bed. So I went back to sleep and woke up in the morning. I checked on Meeko and found a little ham that was still and looked at peace.

I am glad she died naturally as I didn't really want to put her to sleep.

Little Meeko you were my first adoption hamster and my first that I bought independently, you will be forever held in my heart and will be missed be myself and all. I love you xxx

I am so sorry - farewell little Meeko - play well and run free x I think animals can sense things like that very keenly. Charlie went a bit bonkers one night at Rach K's house the night that one of her hams died.
