Well my hunt for a pearl WW has just fizzled out, i have given up! I got a number of a guy in Birmingham, but then deleated the email :shock: thanks to facebook! so anyway i went to get Bekki some food from the petshop and saw this little girl!! Iv had her around 2 weeks, and im too scared to hold her! lmao! she nibbles me, and i keep thinking she may draw blood! im a wuss :( Shes my first campbells iv only ever had WWs and Syrians, so i might be converted? but she dosnt seems to be very friendly, i know campbells arnt as social as WWs or syrians. So shes a platinum normal campbells, i think she is rly pretty!! She dont have an offical name altough im calling her Evil Edna at the moment, like the TV from willow the wisp so all suggestions are welcom :)

i have the same situation! i got mi hammie on March the 14th, 2009
but she still doesnt like me :(
she will only eat treats from mi hand and sit on mi hand and that's it :cry:
she bites me when i pet her
she is from PetSmart
any suggestions 2 tame her???

^ You got your hamster on my birthday :D lol. Mine wont even do that shes like "hand yummy nomnom" even out of the cage, i was thinking she was just cage aggresive. Shes the first hamster to even bite me! I dont like Campbells :(

My two started off chattering and shouting at me if I went near their cage but they settled in quite quickly and the little old man (2 years old) That I looked after before rehoming this pair was very, very friendly. But he'd been handled a lot. He would lick us!

It's quite possible that being a petshop hamster she's not been handled much and needs to learn that you're not going to hurt her.

I haven't had hamster long so can't really advise on the best way to tame although I know with rats that it's not a good idea to use gloves because they can get used to biting the gloves and can not only bite harder but you will also not be as quick to stop them if it's not hurting. I don't know if it's commonly accepted to use gloves to tame hammies?

I literally just started off putting my hand in the cage a few times a day with mine and putting something tasty in so they thought it was a good thing. Over a couple of days they got used to my smell and eventually chose to come out of their own accord.

With all my hammies whenever i put my hand in their cages they go to bite me, so i take them out their cage with their running balls and then let them walk onto my hands, outside the cage.
mine were all very bity when i got them but if they bit i'd just blow them a little in the face, also at first u could use some of that hand gel disinfectant and rub your hands in their bedding because if they bite they hate the taste of the hand gel and dont like getting blown in the face, so they learn its not good to bite!!
Just gradually using less of hand gel until theres no need!

But blowing in the face really worked for all my hammies, :)

Also another thing, if they do bite u when u have them out, dont put them straight back in their cage after , because they'll just end up biting you everytime they want back in there cage :roll:

Thats what i do :)
My hammy is a nibbler i just think he likes to test things. The more i have held him though the less he has nibbled me :D
But i think i will try blowing in his face if he does bite me..
