hamster greens

hi I'm wondering what greens are ok to feed my hamsters and what isn't

There are loads of things that hamsters can eat...



Things that are safe for rabbits are also safe for hammies, including many wild greens.

I often pick wild greens for my rabbits and have found that hamsters love them too! Just a leaf or two, but they are eaten with great relish and I don't find them stashed.

Don't overdo it, though!!!



Remember rabbits are true herbivores (need to eat masses of green and vegetable matter all day long in the wild)... and hamsters are actually omnivores, meaning they need an entirely different balance of cereals, seeds, grains, with a little bit of veg or fruit and some animal protein.



If you tried to get your hamster to stuff its tummy with just greens and veg, I'm sure it would organise a military coup... (and probably have pretty bad indigestion too.)



Hammies are pretty determined on that aspect. I bet you any money that if you tried to miss out their mix, and kept shoving veg/fruit/greens into the cage instead, then the next time you peered into the cage you'd be looking down the barrel of an AK47 wielded by a very peed off hamster with its finger on the trigger.
