As some of you may know a few weeks ago I had to make the tough decision to put Bruno to sleep. Over a month or so his behavior had changed; he stopped using his wheel, didn't want to come out for playtime, and stopped using his wheel. As well as his behavior changing his stomach was swollen and one night I checked on him and his eyes were closed so the next day I took him to the vets. The vet could feel fluid in his stomach and could see some discharge so she put him on antibiotics for a week. Unfortunately after a week he was still no better so we took him to the vets again. Alongside the vet I decided putting him to sleep was the best thing to do because he didn't have a good quality of life and if the vet was to treat him it would have only prolonged his life, it wouldn't have treated his swollen stomach.
Bruno wasn't tamed but before being put to sleep I was able to hold my baby for the first and last time. He loved to have a good run on his wheel, and a run around my bedroom in his ball. He was always so content and his coloring was gorgeous. I still to this day miss him and love him so much, he was a great first Hamster.
I would just like to thank everyone for your kind words on my previous thread and all the help you have all given me on previous threads about Bruno.
Whilst Bruno was at the vets it was confirmed he was actually a girl and not a boy haha but oh well he will always be my little boy. :(

::( hi so sorry about your hamster. When mine died what made me feel better was knowing that I wasn't the only one with a hamster that had died! ;) I found many you tube channels such as hopping hammy, chocolatecolour467 , Erin's animals etc . And they had had hamsters that had died also and it made me feel tonnes better!!!

Bruno was such a lovely ham, such a sweet face, I'm really sorry you had to lose little Bruno like that, it's hard & it takes time but cherish the memories.
Run free & play well at the bridge little Bruno.

Really sad to hear of your loss of Brono bbbarker. It`s hellish losing them. I see Bruno had a red shoe box?!! The best sleeping house ever. She will be sleeping now away from any pain so remember her always. x

It is always hard to lose a hammy. But to be honest, losing a first hammy is extra difficult. So much so, that some folks feel they never want another hammy. Bruno will forever hold a very special place in your heart because she was the first one. I started with gerbils in 1962, with Henry. I remember that little guy as clearly as the day I brought him home. It will be the same for you with Bruno. She was a beautiful hammy with a lovely color pattern. I am so sorry you've lost her bbbarker. {hugs} Play well at the Rainbow Bridge Bruno girl. :-(

Such sad news about Bruno. I know you found out he was a girl.
You made the right decision on putting Bruno to sleep, it's not an easy decision to make but, you done this out of love and we know how much you loved Bruno. It's never easy losing a hammy but you have so many wonderful memories to look back on.
RIP Bruno a gorgeous little girl (Miss Bruno) xx
