There are two holes for bottle spouts. I have attached our bottle using adhesive velcro - one side stuck to the bottle, and the other side stuck to the outside of the cage. This hold the bottle in place firmly and makes it very easy to remove and reattach when changing the water.

I have blocked up the bottle spout hole that we do not use, as I did not want Rupert to be able to use this as a point to start chewing. I have used a wooden chew daisy, again attached with adhesive velcro.

The base has a raised grid-like texture. This makes thorough clean-outs quite difficult as it constantly seems to rip and bobble the kitchen towel when it is being wiped out!

The roof opening secures with two plastic slide-tabs, one at either end. These feel sturdy and are smooth to operate.

The large size provides plenty of space for toys, digging boxes, tunnels, nest houses etc.

All in all, we love this cage and I give it a 9/10. My Syrian Hamster has lived in it for nearly a month now and he is a happy, active and curious little boy who loves his adventures in the cage!

I thought the Duna Fun was the one with the platforms? But yes, this is the Maxi Duna Multy to give it it's full name.

Lovely large cage, love it. :) Although....I tend to use spare parts from other cages. I use a plastic Savic insert to hold my water bottle inside the cage. I have a Gabber Rex tank. These tend to slip into the slots between the top and the base of any cage, just as they do in the Rody. only may need propping up with something under the holder if the base of this cage is much taller than a Savic Rody. Simple enough to do though and it means you can have a water bottle inside the cage. x

Does anyone know what shelves (if any) fit in the Maxi Duna? Without resorting to DIY if possible!

I had a Maxi Duna when I first had gerbils. It lasted for quite a while, until I got my 3 girls, Bella, Esme and Alice...who soon found a weak spot and got right through it - I found them hiding under my bed lol. I got a 3ft glass exo-terra terranium after that lol.
The Maxi is quite good though, providing you give your hamster plenty of toys and tunnels for it to play with.

I can't help you with shelves I'm afraid though.

I find houses with flat tops make a good alternative to shelves but I also like the Rodipet free standing corner shelves which are great for some extra space.

I know this is a really old thread, but I wanted to ask how strong the velcro was in holding the bottle on?? Looks like a fab idea!

Still going strong! The same bit is still on there from nearly a year ago! :D

Thanks :) There was a bit of an argument here this evening about it - no one believed it would be strong enough, and someone tried to make this horrid contraption out of weird green wire but the bottle couldn't even stand upright, let alone stay put! Plus it meant half the wire was hanging down inside the cage, which of course I strongly objected to! So once they went out I undid their stupid contraption and fixed the velcro that I'd originally bought!

I'm gonna add my own review here if that's ok ...

I have very mixed feelings about this cage. In terms of size I think it would be perfect for a dwarf hamster. Although my little Syrian is small, I do think this cage is too small really as Syrian items are a lot bigger and so there isn't a lot of room to put toys in. Also, in order to fit in a wheel big enough for a Syrian the stand for it has to go under the substrate otherwise it doesn't fit.
I don't like that there are no side doors, and this makes taming a LOT harder as you are always coming from the top wich is scary for a hamster.
Usually I would think that bars at the top would be great as they can't chew them, however my hamster has now discovered if he stands on top of his house he CAN reach them and if there isn't something on top he will try to nibble them, as well as monkey bar across the top.
I LOVE that you can put in a lot of substrate for digging, however this can only be in some places as the stand of wheel has to go under the substrate and once you have covered it up the wheel wouldn't turn if the substrate is too high. Also because the wheel is big I have to put the bed on the opposite end of the cage, which doesn't leave much room at all for toys.
Another thing I don't like too much is that there is only 2 places to put the water bottle. This means I HAVE to have the bottle in one place (as the other hole is by the wall so I wouldn't have access to it) which means I can't put much in that corner either.
I also seem to be constantly wiping the inside of the cage. I don't know whether it gets dusty from the sand or something but I am constantly having to wipe the sides inside which is annoying!
I also can't hang toys from the top as that is the only access to the cage (and also now he has discovered how to reach the top I definitely wouldn't be able to!) ...

So I guess I think this cage is perfect for a dwarf hamster, but possiby not for a Syrian. My little Sweep doesn't appear to be very happy in it, and I don't like that there isn't much space to put things!
