I ordered some willow sticks and seagrass from a willow farm on line. I soaked the willow for a couple of hours to make it pliable and have been attempting to make some playpen toys.

Yesterday I made this, I'm not sure what you would call it, it's a bit of a mess lol but Willow enjoyed checking it out last night :)

Today I made a tunnel, it's 18inches long by 4inches across. One end is sort of closed lol with the exit at the side instead.

Wow I would buy something like that. Where did you get the materials from? I'm not that good with being creative but I love to try things.

I got the bits directly from the willow growers, here is the link

I'm impressed too. I think the first thing is a 'cocoon'! That's what it looks like to me. And the tunnel looks very professional.

Thank you all :)

Serendipity, I really like your cocoon description lol :)
I made a ball shaped base with the willow, my original idea was to weave the seagrass through this so it became a seagrass ball :)
I obviously was being more than a little ambitious and not knowing how or why it managed to changed shape before my very eyes lol
I quickly redesigned it, adding in an entrance hole and then just pretended this was what I intended to do all along lol
Yes a cocoon, that is exactly what I meant to make lol :)

They both loved the tunnel :) I put it in the playpen, placed the closed side on the floor and the top open end on the roof of their castle thingybob :) they both ran up it and down it several times :) Separately of course, but they share the playpen and playpen toys :)
And Ebony of course had to have a little nibble of the end of it, well she wouldn't be my Ebony if she hadn't lol :)

Really nice idea! I've been looking at ways to add an odd shaped shelf in one of my cages and weaving my own might be the way to go - thanks for the inspiration :-)

These are amazing! I'm no good with DIY so I wish I could find things like these in the stores, I think they'd be very popular :)

Thanks Goldie and Bec :)
Ebony is chewing her way through the cocoon shaped whatsit :) She creeps inside it and then munches away on the seagrass :) The hole she's made is on the bottom of it so she obviously wants a floorless hidey hole lol :)
They do seem to be loving both of these, that's probably only because they are in the playpen though so they aren't getting bored with them :)

This looks really fun! I'm certainly trying this for little Pikachu, he'd love it! I love the closed tunnel idea with the side exit, and the shelf idea too! How exciting!

Thanks for sharing, you look like a pro already!
