Hello everyone,
After our little Pebbles passed away we have been thinking weather we were ready to have another hamster as Pebbles was our first.
We decided not to get another one for now as it was really hard to lose her, but after looking at the adoption rescue's website from which Pebbles was adopted we saw little Max, a baby syrian. I remembered how happy Pebbles made me and decided to rescue this little baby after all.
We want to varnish/paint the wooden bits in our cage as we don't want them to absorb urine or get stained but I am not sure which is the best option.
I read about plastikote paint but I am not sure which is the best one within that brand.
I would be really grateful if you could give me some advice as I want to get it done before baby Max comes home.
Thank you a lot,
Elvira x

i use the fast dry brush on enamel plastikote paint, thats the one tha says child toy safe. i find the paint much easier to put on in a nice even coat. i tried the spray once but it chocked me and it still stunk on the wood a few days later so have decided to stick to the actual paint. i know many have used the spray with no ill effects, but i much prefer the brush on paint. this also comes in a wide range of colours, you can buy online or buy direct from wilkinsons stores.

Glad to hear you have a new baby! I haven't tried plastikote yet, but when I asked about it, someone also suggested the brush on enamel paint. I don't think it is actually 'enamel' just a descriptor. It's supposed to be just the same I think, but I don't like anything aerosol due to breathing it and I think maybe brushing it on could be more accurate. This is the stuff. I think it was 2 Little Puds recommended it to me.

This is the clear one - it comes in colours too if you prefer!
