Nugget... I'm not quite sure how to describe her. She was basically small, white, crazy, speedy and did I mention crazy?
She was one of our first six mice. She came to us absolutely terrified, she ended her life as one of the most curious and confident mice we owned.
As a youngster she was very playful, very bossy and very easily unnerved, something as simple as two new toys or some new bedding could leave her unsettled for days if we weren't careful.
As she grew up she really settled down, she started to find it easier to get along with the other mice, she stopped being so bossy and she started to find life in general a lot less scary. She came to love new toys, new things to shred, new bedding, new places to explore, new ways to escape the cage... If it existed she liked to find out about it.
Our little lady really was one of a kind. She died of suspected old age, she probably had either heart or kidney failure too and we had just changed her diet to be more kidney friendly but realistically we both knew she'd probably be going soon. It feels a lot like she'd been here forever, keeping on going and never really needing us to worry about her once she'd settled down a bit. In the end our little lady fell asleep at home for the last time on Wednesday. It still seems a bit strange without her but its safe to say she taught us a lot and left a lot of good memories behind. I sometimes struggle to find the right pic for a memorial but theres one pic that pretty much sums up Nugget... Absolutely crazy :p
