Colby and the Dwarfs

So tiny.
Snowball was always tiny. Such a sweet girl. And so perfect.

She had a job; to calm the roosters. Fighting roosters are huge, mean, and not fun to hold. But a young little white hen could calm them. She would sit in a cage and sing and talk. They would be so busy talking to her and watching her you could put identifying bands on their feet or give them medicine without them attacking you! She wasn't fazed, she did her job well.
As she got older, she retired and had lots of little chicks with her "husband", a little black rooster named Coleball. She and her first brood even visited a Kindergarten class! Such a good little lady.
She grew old. And, save one little sickness, she surprised me each year by maintaining good health. She turned six. Seven. Eight. Nine. By the time she turned ten I figured I had immortal chicken! But, today, at the age of ten, I lost my little girl.
She saw so much in her long life. Her daughter was killed by a hawk last winter, and I have no doubt they are together now.
She was special, and I will miss her dearly.
See you soon my little snow-white Snowball:-). xxx
