*WARNING ON THIS - ANY GAPS IN THE STICKS MUST BE FILLED AS LEGS CAN GET TRAPPED IN BETWEEN THEM*
I finished Sofia's shelf and wanted to show it off :D The willow sticks are glued to the side, the sisal rope is glued around the edges, it's been Plastikoted and the shelf has sand on it :)

That looks amazing!!! Did you plastikote it? I want to make three for my little wee ones, they look great :)

Thanks!!! I really hope she likes it!

@Hekomi - yup! Couple of layers on the top, one on the sides. Took ages to stick those willow sticks on so didn't want her to ruin it within a few days :p

The willow sticks I got from the pound store by the way, in the garden section :) They're for edging lawns/borders and come wired together but I took the wire off which was really easy :)

Oooh, probably easier to get than dowels (my mum counted the other one, 116 dowels. Times that by 3... and IKEA will stare us down and run us out!).

How much did it come to, price wise for the sticks?

The sticks were £1 :D

That looks brilliant! I also spotted those willow rolls for £1 & as you say the wire comes away really easily. Bargain indeed. With the sand it looks like a tropical beach with the coconut hut!

That's not too expensive! Hopefully it's the same, or similar over here.

(btw your PM inbox is full ;) )

I love what you have made, I bought two willow rolls today and hoping to make a upper level. I wasn't sure if they were hamster safe as they seem to have silky feel to them and the sticks that pets chew on are more rough and natural and smell less, what do you think. Has your hamster been OK with it? They are so cheap and I could make so much with them I really hope they are OK.

Willow is like that :) I've not had any problems at all with Sofia's, she seems to love it :D

Thanks, this is all new to me. Do you think it will be OK to leave it as a roll with the metal in? I was hoping to hang it with sisal string or glue some dowels on to the bottom, not sure yet but keep it in a roll, flat and use as a level. And use a piece cut width smaller for a ladder.

I removed the wire purely because I couldn't figure out how to smooth the ends of it or cover them somehow. The ends of the wire are really sharp.
