I've seen a lot of people using ikea units to make cages. Im currently making a bin cage but just wanted to see what people think of the ikea units. If you have one or not can you comment what you like and dislike about it. I'm not looking for anything in particular just what people like/ dislike about them. Thank you;)

I honestly have never used one, but I have heard really good things about them. My cousin used one for her cage, and it worked great! They're really sturdy and pretty easy to clean.

I have 2 different IKEA hacked cages. The first one I built, I used 2 IKEA Lack Coffee tables. It is made terrarium style, with front sliding plexiglass doors. I love this cage because it gives me ample viewing of my Syrian hamster, Darwin & it is easy to clean because the front sliding doors are removable. I also like this cage because I have built in storage underneath. The second IKEA cage I built was for my first dwarf, but now my Chinese hamster, Pippa, lives in it. Again, it allows for great viewing of Pippa! It was cost effective, only $60 to build. I honestly do wish it was a bit bigger though.

Hope this helps! I can include pics if you need them. Happy DIYing! :-)

She used a BORGSJÖ Shelf Unit. She used something else when she got a new hamster, but I don't remember what it was.

Here are my two IKEA cages. The one on the top is the Billy Extension, small in size, and about $60 to build (only appropriate for a single dwarf or Robo). The one on the bottom is the IKEA Lack and it cost me about $130 to build (not including the red LED lights inside).
