My new additions are finally getting their own little thread! :)
A little background story: I owned a gorgeous Syrian Hamster, Cupcake, until January this year, when I had to help her to the bridge. I took a little break from hammies for a while as I dealt with the loss, however I realized not so long ago that the best thing for me would be more hammies!
And so I ended up rescuing three little dwarf hamsters! The person I took them from told me that I have three females on hand, but I'm sure the third is actually a boy. His thread will follow shortly after this one :)
And so, without any further ado, let me introduce you to Zenki and Kouki!

This is Zenki, right after I put in their new sand bath, it's one of her new favorite spots.

This is Kouki, she really loves her wheel, so it was quite hard to get a picture of her sitting still without having to use my flash.
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u450/cupcakehammie/fea53e04-2a36-4872-b336-3746e0a7d48a.jpg (http://s1068.photobucket.com/user/cupcakehammie/media/fea53e04-2a36-4872-b336-3746e0a7d48a.jpg.html)

And a picture of the two enjoying dinner. Note, I still cannot differentiate between them unless I interact with them! I know Zenki is the biggest out of the two, but I always need to see Kouki too, in order to be able to tell which is which. Kouki is a sweetie pie and easily climbs on my hand and doesn't mind being touched. Zenki on the other hand, always does this punching motion with both her front paws when she sees my hand and only then gets on. She seems to 'punch' everything that is new in their cage. If she's never seen it before, it needs to be punched  She was also the one bullying the hammie that turned out to be a boy, prompting me to separate them and to realize that the third sister might be a brother instead.

And that's it for today! :)

They are lovely! Their names are really unusual - do they mean anything?

@ Scooby Sue: yea, they do :) my OH and I are into the Japanese Automobile Racing scene, and I decided to name my next hammies based on that. Zenki refers to the first model of a particular vehicle, Kouki is the newest model and Chuki is the mid-model  Not hammy related at all, I know, but I liked the names

@ Hekomi: they are the tiniest creatures I have ever seen! I'm still so afraid when I hold them to not squish them

@ CPalmer: thank you!!

Reminds me of when my boys were little and new! They fit in my hand!

They still fit in my hand but not quite as easily, lol!

LOL Hekomi, I'll be taking a picture of Chuki in my hand, he tends to sit still for longer period of time. He is maybe slightly bigger than a toonie! Your boys seem a lot bigger than he is now. I'm guessing that all of them weren't very well fed where I picked them up from.
I'm still unsure of how big, or heavy should a dwarf hammy be at 5 weeks of age

My boys there were about 2mo old, so older than your guys for sure. He looks adorable though! Our boys, at 6mo weigh about 52-54g. I didn't measure them when they were babies though. :(

Toonie boys... cute cute cute!

I'll pick up the scale from my parents house today (I left some things behind when I moved out  ), and I will most likely weigh them tonight and keep a little notebook. I like doing that so that I can notice any drastic changes in weight and I will weigh them roughly once a week

We keep an excel spreadsheet of all our four and have a graph which updates automatically so we can see trends, etc. It's wildly helpful.

The whole hamily got millet last night! and it was a hit! :) (next thing on the list, meal worms  )

Kouki like to attack it from underneath

Lol they remind me of my boys a bit! They also LOVE millet, AND meal worms. Be careful offering treats in cage, I know my boys get a bit grabby over it.

"BUT MOM MOCHA STOLE MY MEAL WORM :<"

Aww, such cute pictures :D Kouki looks to be in awe over that millet! Dusty is the same, she just devours the whole thing within a few hours. They'll love mealworms if there anything like the typical dwarf when it comes to treats ;)

The photos are fantastic :) Zenki and Kouti are adorable. I epesically love the photo of them sitting side by side with their backs facing the camera!

Thanks everyone!
I'm finding that owning dwarves is an awesome experience. They are different in so many ways from Syrians that they always keep me guessing!
@basilthehammy : I need to find his thread! He sounds like one cutie pie I do not want to miss
@creamsyrian : I think Kouki spent a good 10 minutes hovering over that millet from every side. I never thought she would go crazy for it
@ hekomi : they seem to have quite the bond the girlies. They always share food and treats, and Zenki is very protective of Kouki. Whenever there is something new in the cage, she holds Kouki back and goes to investigate first. She takes great care of her sister :) and there's always plenty for them to share (just in case)

That's adorabbbblllleeee.

My boys aren't like that, lol. I kinda wish they were, but they get along well. They just bicker over treats.

If one goes back smelling like treats the other is like "HEY HEY HEY WHERE IS MY TREAT GIMME YO TREAT".

It's literally all about food. It must be a boy thing :P

Haha I guess it is. Chuki is like that with his food!
And he is alone... -.- when I scatter food he runs everywhere like 'Mine mine mine mine!'

Hekomi

Hahahaha. My boys will gather a bit, since I scatterfeed.

What they LOVE LOVE LOVE is when I crush up meal worms and sprinkle it all over their bedding. They spend hours buried in their bedding trying to get all the delicious meal worms.

Ouf I could never crush mealworms. I hate the crunchy sound

Hekomi

I crunch up the freezedried ones so it's not so bad.

Some new pictures of my little ladies :)

Kouki has the patience to deal with the little nut that is stuck in that wooden cube, Zenki could never be bothered with that much work for food

One of my favourite pictures of Kouki to date, she looks like such a sweetie pie and she is!
