View Full Version : feeding hamsters gerbil food.

I recently bought a gorgeous new syrian hamster(8weeks) :D named Boo. The pet shop didnt have any hamster food left but the owner advised me that she would be fine on gerbil food. She seems to love it,and its not that different from hamster food, However im concerned some of the food might damage her pouches.
Anyone got any ideas?. I may just be paranoid n over protective of Boo. :)

I think it would be OK to give your ham the gerbil food for now, however when it's available you should get your ham some quality hamster food such as Harry Hamster designed specifically for a hamster's needs.

as pophammy said its ok for a very brief time but gerbil food leaves out some of the essential things for your hammy so best to get your hands on some hammy food as soon as :)
