Hi im planning on making some wee bits for my dwarf hamster Grayson. Im using plain lollipop sticks, dowels and pva glue. I'll need to seal the bits as well. Can I use a watered down version of pva glue or should I stick to plasti-kote instead?

Thanks

I think I would stick with clear plasticote myself though I've never actually made any toys. You don't really need to seal the wood though ;)

I wasn't sure if it was necessary but I have spoken to a few friends with hamsters who said I should.

For small things I don't usually bother, but a big flat expanse it can be wise re. them picking it as a good place to pee and being harder to clean. But it's not essential even if so; basically comes down to how important it is to you that the thing you've made lasts vs needs to be replaced in a year or so. I tend to use plasti-kote if so.

Could I please just jump in and check whether this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plasti-kote-400ml-Super-Clear-Acrylic/dp/B002HMOFOG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1389444267&sr=8-2&keywords=plastikote) is the right kind of thing? There's nothing about it being harmful to hams but it looks a bit scary so thought I'd check...

I don't think that one is safe, it has a few safety notes regarding it's irritant

I think it is only the paint on version that can be used,

There are plasti-kote sprays that are safe as well as the tins, but it's the enamel one you want, not gloss :)
