Having gotten some ideas from this section of the forum, I decided to have a go at making the Barry's some toys.

they're not dry yet, but once they're in situ I'll take more pics.

Ooooh this looks interesting! Is it literally just loo roll and water moulded into shapes and dried out? Deffo going to be giving this a go. Thanks for sharing :)

Those look really awesome! I'll have to have a try at making some too. I bet they don't turn out as good as yours though. The things you've made look amazing :)

It is indeed.

I have made the "cups" into a treat toy. I filled with a few sunflower seeds, and slotted the slightly smaller one into the bigger one. Barry1 came and had a sniff but has gone back into their house.

I'm waiting for the house i made to dry out then i'll put that in too.

Maybe poke a little hole in one end so they can smell the treats?

They're not that interested at the moment, but they've only been home a couple of days, so I'm hoping once they settle in properly they'll like them.

I do think however, that I shall be buying a LOT of loo roll and making lots off stuff!

is it just water and loo roll? :3 I was thinking maybe you could blow a tiny balloon and make a treat ball from it :3 like kids do with massive ones :3

Exactly how did you do it? Could you explain us a little bit pease! (if it is ok)
Love them and wanted to have a go at it :)

I've made something similar before. I just got a round bowl and turned it over. I found it easier to put a few bits of tissue on and then use a sponge to gently wet it, but with kitchen roll you could probably wet it first, or use a paint brush but that took too long for me.
I made it fairly think and then slid the bowl out. I popped mine in the oven after I had made tea (with it off!!!) to help it dry out a bit more.
My two dwarfs loved it and it is a great way to make a house with enough entrances.

No JinjaMakes. Not interested.

TuTu, I'll make more tonight and take pics throughout the process.

RedSky, I'm going to borrow a pudding bowl from work to make some houses. Might make a multi entrance igloo.

That's a shame :(

An igloo sounds cool though (no pun intended...)

These are the molds I used for the treat roll.
My husband does martial arts and has a recovery shake afterwards, these are the measuring ups from that. They are both 70ml, but one is slightly slimmer and taller, so ideal to fit just inside the fatter one.
Hope this helps TuTu......

I totes have those cups from maximuscle protein shakes. So you put your soaked paper in it then leave to dry ? I don't think you can put those cups in oven?
In fact I use one of this cup as food spoon for my hamster mix :)

Place them open side down, and just cover them in wet loo roll. Press firmly, and do a few lauers. Leave to dry, I dried mine on the radiator. Once slighly dry, you can lift the cup out of the mache and it will hold it's shape.
