Question about photo of the month

Go one the moth of August isn't over yet and there already is a winner Nd then there's alread one for September? At the beginning of the month is that when the winner is announced? Also do the hamster have to be still with us or could they be old pictures of hamsters that have pasted away?

The competition is help the previous month mitsykitty so that the photo is ready to be displayed on the first of the month. So the August HOM is chosen in July and displayed during August.
The rules state that the hamster pic can be of a hammy that is with you now or has passed to the rainbow bridge as long as it is your own or your family's hamster and lived with you.
