im making puffle a house this summer, and the shops near me no longer sell plasti-kote, and replased it with rust-oleum paint, I googled it and there are people that painted their cage bars with it so would it be ok for wooden toys?

I wouldn't touch that stuff when making hamster items...the only paint I ever use is eco-paints (google them). If a human baby can't lick it, neither can a hamster.

Rust-Oleum enamel is great stuff, but unfortunately not for hamster toys. Enamels are oil-based abd take a long time to cure. They will smell for weeks (if sniffed very closely) as they cure and harmful chemicals evaporate, and I don't think they'd be healthy for a hamster to chew on when fully dry, if they choose to gnaw on coated toys.

Google Eco-Paints...they're a company based in the UK. There are not many safe paints, and the safe ones are expensive... :(

I used it on my enclosure. I talked extensively with the people over there and it is 100% SAFE. A human baby could even eat some lol.
