Rolling

willow my Syrian has just had a few rolls in the cage on her back, you know like dogs do when there frisky
i,ve never seen any of my hamsters do this, only the dwarfs and gerbils when in their sand bath.
Is it normal?

My syrian Bailey used to dig and roll in the corner of her cage.

It's normal :)

Its spring, she is happy! :D Mine sometimes do this too, not very often, but now and then :D

... and another one, as mine also do this on occasion. I had wondered if it was something to do with scenting - and mine seems limited to the females.

Failing that, it does look a great way of scratching a back you wouldn't otherwise be able to reach! :x

My syrian alice has started this, so I've also added a sand bath to her cage and she loves it.
