After waiting a long time for the cage to arrive, I finally have Obi's home all finished! I am happy with how it turned out, and I think that tonight my little bear will have great fun exploring everything new.

In the corner, you can see the roof of his log cabin, which is burried underground and accessed via the cork tube. I am hoping that Obi will nest in here, after I move his little nest into it. That's what I hope, haha.

As promised, here's a list of everything I have used, the price and where to get it from! I really didn't go much out of my way for these things so it's quite easy to acheive the natural look! I do plan on adding in some smallish rocks to the sand when I find some that I like ^_^
1) Maxi Duna Multy (£80, My local pet store)
2) Megazorb 85l, used around half of the bag (£8a bag, My local equestrian store)
3) Woodlands small hut (£6, Pets at home)
4) Cork Bark pieces, Baked for around 3 hours at a high temp, then scrubbed with a toilet brush inside and out before being sandpapered to a smooth finish inside (£14, My local reptile store)
5) Moss (Kindly given to me to LoobyLou!)
6) Small grass hut (£0.75, Pets at home)
7) Cress, seperated into 2 pieces and pushed into toilet roll tubes to keep it steady and contained once burried (£0.24, Morrisons)
8) 2 x Large play sticks (£10, Pets at home)
9) Small play sticks (£3, Pets at home)
10 ) Play sand, baked for 30 minutes until dry (£2.50, Tesco)
11) 29cm Karlie Wonderland wheel, coated with clear plastikote (£15, Amazon)
12) Plastikote, small pot (£3, B&Q)
13) Mopai Wood, leeched for 2 weeks to remove the tannins and baked until dry (£2, The range)

Grand total of £144.49
Eeek, lets hope he likes it huh ;)

 WOW, that is utterly amazing! It looks wicked awesome and also shows you can make just the same style setups in a plastic tank cage as you can in a large glass detolf and they look every bit as good. You have done a wonderful job with that, I hope Obi appreciates your efforts and doesn't redecorate it!;):p

Oh and it's nice to finally seen maxi Duna Multy "in the flesh" and all I can now say is -why on earth is this cage not on the shelves of the big green shop instead of the mini D?

Thanks everyone, it's really great to hear you like it!

And your right. This cage is just fantastic with no downsides in my opinion. The zoozones of course are the same size, but I just can't deal with the pink/blue base with a natural set up! Ohh and I'm pretty sure there will be some redecoration and loss of greenery haha.

I understand that point entirely! If I ever wanted a ZZ2 I would really want a white base for it.

I spent a long time searching for a white ZZ2, and travelled in my local area to visit the ones I found, but the clear plastic was always poor and I just got fed up of hoping, hence the reason I paid £80 for this. I did haggle it down from £96 though ;)

That's absolutely brilliant, well done. Obi will love it. I wish you could get a photo of the whole set up as I would love to see it all in one.
The megazorb definitely looks much better than Fitch but as I have a huge bagful left I'll continue to use it.

Just out of interest or rather me being nosey, what's behind the wheel? It looks like something flowery but seems to still be in the cage.

Lottie decided to trash her small animal grass on Sunday night and I got up to stumps so have had to plant some more, little monkey.:D

Is there not a full length photo? I'm not sure what you mean x

I like how the Megazorb looks, but Obi does best brushing every time I get him out to keep him free of bits! And that flowery thing is a tea towel haha. I plsced it on my desk so I could put down the logs etc without scratching my desk ;)

Aww sorry, my mistake, I was that busy being amazed at how lovely it looks I didn't realise that the last pic was a full length one. I thought they were taken at different ends but now I've looked again I realise there is a full length one. Just me being dim :D

Very nice tea towel too :D Should have gone toSpecsavers.

I love this! It looks wonderful. Do you know what the closest equivalent to MegaZorb is that we have in the States?

I'm sorry I don't know an equivalent...I can recommend looking up how to make hamster bedding perhaps? It's very similar to care fresh and you make it out of plain paper. There are video tutorials on YouTube if it interests you!

Over here megazorb is compaired as being like carefresh but cheaper for much more of it (its pretty pricey here for some reason), so I'd say the plain coloured carefresh is your best equivalent:)

I actually did one of those homemade methods once... Using toilet paper. It was pretty successful but it took foreverrrrr for it to dry. I'll look up some other methods, thanks.

Great, thanks. I used to use CareFresh Natural all the time but I eventually switched over to Aspen because its significantly cheaper. Bedding can really add up!

I have a maxi Duna multy too - it's an awesome cage and I think the money I paid was worth it.

I love the way you've arranged yours!

Thanks everyone :)

I do really like the cage, but the sand needs to be brushed away from the clear plastic gently otherwise it scuffs it, and I'm a bit OCD about things like that. I even had to buy a little tea strainer to sift the bedding out of his sand haha.

I also made the decision to move him out of my bedroom after weeks of no sleep. I was getting annoyed at him because I couldn't sleep, even though his Karlie is lined with cork and is really quiet (I'm a very light sleeper). So now he's moved to another room and I can enjoy his furry company more :D

Nice! A few days ago I saved these pictures on the computer (from Google images) for inspiration!

I have a question about the mopai wood though, I hear it's toxic?! What did you leech it in? and is it safe after?

This is an old thread HellsBells. You might want to add about the mopai to your other wood related thread as you may get more answers there.

Thanks Velma, the thread sprung up in the list with 'unread posts' so I figured it was kind of newer?
