Goodbye, Little Morgan ...

I barely had you for a week, all told. After that, you were at the vets for almost two months.

They told me you were healed. I kept visiting, and you seemed happy and healthy. You always loved your food, and you were so easy to give meds to that the aides loved you!

I went to pick you up this morning - and I was so happy! You had finally finished your all of your medication, and your infection was gone. I walked into the pet store, and I saw their faces. I knew something was wrong.

My mom led me to the back of the store, and she told me you died in your sleep the night before. I couldn't stop crying, couldn't breathe. You were my first hamster, and you were so gentle and sweet.

I'll miss you, baby. Sleep well, and sweet dreams.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words. I'm probably going to be devastated for a while, but I've still got a house of animals to take care of. I'll just have to save all my cuddles until we can meet again.

I'm so sorry sweet Morgan didn't pull through. You did everything you could do, most of all give Morgan your love. I also lost my first hamster a week after bringing him home. But they're playing together at the Rainbow Bridge now, and they aren't sick anymore. :)

I'm so sorry for your loss. I adopted a hamster from a pet store here, and it turned out I knew her previous owner. No sooner had I gotten her home, I realized she had wet-tail. I got a bottle of infant electrolyte fluid, a big thing of crushed oats and a few other things. She slowed down a little bit, but it seemed she had made the upturn towards feeling better. I checked on her in the morning before I went to work, I came home on break to check on her again. I'm glad I did because I found her curled up under her water bottle. She was soaked and her breathing was shallow. I got her out and dried off and warmed up, but she passed not long after. I think all in all I had her for 3 maybe 4 days :'(
