Just thought I'd introduce myself...

My name's Coral, and I'm 27. I post a lot on a fancy rats forum, and a helpful member directed me here, as I am currently looking for a home for a rescue hammy :D .

My first hamster was called Honey - she was absolutely lovely, really calm and sweet. She was unwanted in a pet shop as she was an adult, and they thought she was too large  .

Then, I had Scrabble (so named because of his scrabbling in the box I brought him home in). He was terrified of hands when I first got him, but he soon became the easiest little sweetie to pick up, and loved rolling around in his ball - he even used to scare my bunny when he was rolling around! I had him for 2 and a half years.

Fluffy (my sister named him) was rescued from some silly people who thought it would be fun to buy a hamster when they were a bit drunk one night, and then didn't take care of it. My friend smuggled him out, and we took him in. He didn't know he was supposed to be nocturnal, and always came out to see you if he heard voices. He was really calm and sweet, despite his bad start in life.

Now, I'm looking after Caramel (see my post under Classifieds), who's a lovely girl, but a bit jumpy. I'm currently getting her used to realising she can approach hands, and usually they have a nice treat in them. She's just very cautious, but she's getting there.

It's nice to meet you all :D .

Hello Coral, Nice to meet you! and welcome to the forum I’m glad you have joined us and I hope you visit regularly!

I just love seeing people put a thought out for the hams that need rescuing, or any animal for that matter. Before I got my rescue ham I wouldn’t have thought much about it and just gone to a pet store. But ones just feels so much better about themselves rescuing a pet :)

Welcome Carol glad you were able to help the little hamsters and thank you for joining us - we hope to help you find a loving home and hopefully you will still pop by for a chat sometimes.

Jenny is looking for a hamster just now - preferably a rescue - but has no transport I believe so have sent her a PM... Fingers crossed - Hamster Central has found matches before....
