I'm a big fan of making my own toys for my critters, and I've gotten used to it with Merlin being A) a destroyer and B) a bubble child who can only have certain things.

So when I could not find enough info on Hevea wood (which was not on the bad woods list, but I later realized was also not on the good woods list) I decided to take her treehouse bridge back and make one myself. While I was at it I made her a corner style hammock. I also made her a custom lid, as her tank dimensions are a little odd, and I was rather pleased with it. I have a few more projects for this week, so I decided to start documenting them, hope you don't mind :3

Here is the rope ladder (also reinforced with wire so she doesn't chew through it, but the wire has been wrapped through the rope so no direct access to it). It measures nearly 40 inches long :3 took forever lol PS the wire showing was just from when I was making sure it was long enough lmao, it's all been cut and hidden now)

Next up is the hammock, which I'm used to making variations of depending on which rodent needs one lol

And finally the lid. I made it with mesh, plexiglass, and the rubber borders for around doors. I hand it to people who mesh their cages, because working with a piece this big was just brutal, I got so many cuts >_< totally worth it though

All for now : ) hope you like them

Hammie and merlin, after seeing your tank with the looong suspended bridge, I decided I wanted something like that!! I managed to make something similar with a short bendy stick thingy and some shoelaces!! :) Made one for Nolah and Kolah and then for Pepsi and they're brilliant!! Thanks for the inspiration!!

Yeah when I get back home I'll upload the pics. It's not as big as your one but it's the same kind of idea :)

How did you make the bridge? Did you drill holes in the wood and run the twine through? It's awesome and I want to make one for Strawberry!

Actually what I did was take one of the bendy bridges apart and made the holes bigger for sturdier rope and wire :)

I decided that if Boo was going to have a tree house style ladder, she would need a tree house for the ladder in question. So here it is! There will be photos of her using it in Boo's thread :3 Hope you like it (all the wood and materials are safe. the adhesive used to keep it in place have been trimmed and the wire is now all inaccessible for her)
