Hi! I recently made some creation using these popsicle sticks, they're cheap and easy to make, we just need some creativity and...patience!

I saw Foolmoonnight's creations and thought I might share as well :D

This was my first creation, the fence wasnt originally like that, it was broken so I fixed it. and also there used to be a little hut at the right side but it wasnt well built so I decided to take it off.

the original one, -sorry the pic isnt so great took it with my phone months ago

My second one, the model is just the same like the first, but I like the colors I think it suits the girls :D

The one I made just now, still waiting for the glue to dry!!

I managed to inspire someone to post. Tee hee one thing to check off my "To do list" .

Are those little ice cream scoops? They are so cute~! The odd shapes are adorable! There is quite some structure work going on the under side. I can imagine waiting or the glue to dry with those angles. *cringe*

Oh no dont give up! (I actually gave up once lol, but then I asked my dad to help me :p)
If I put just a little touch of glue, it could dry pretty fast, but when I put a little too much, it takes me minutes maybe around 10(?) for it to dry (it's only 10 minutes but it's kinda hard to wait for it ;p) and when the creation is done, I leave it overnight so that it wont have the glue smell

They look smashing! May I ask what glue you use? I'd love to do these kind of projects. I like wood working too. But I'm afraid of using a glue that might be bad for my hammy to nibble.

I use a non-toxic glue I bought from a bookstore, cant really remember the brand though, I'm sure there are plenty of good brands available in the US! You just have to look on a cover that says "Safe" and/or "Non-toxic" :D I'd love to see some of your work once you make them :D

You're welcome!

Just a little update on the swing. I did try putting that into Cil, Pudding, and Jinak's bin cage (yep, I'm keeping a trio and theyre doing so well together!), all hopped into the swing it was so cute til they started chewing that silver something I use for hanging. Not quite sure if it's safe and I took it off :-/ too bad they all seem to enjoy the swing!

That's too bad! What about maybe rafia? Is this safe for hamsters to digest? Maybe alfalfa would allow you to attach the swing to the frame?

What about hemp thread? It's edible, and just like a string you could tie it up with.

Idk about rafia, but I think its not good for their digestion system, well the problem is, I kinda might have glued that silver something I used to the stick :-/ that silver something is...tin. (not sure tho is it really tin in english? I used google translate for the word -_-)

It's horrible esp if you have to hold it in place. Oh the horror of doing nothing for 10-15 minutes.

And now it's my turn to be inspired~! :D your creations look awesome! (you could make a buck or two, y'know ;)) just one question though, is leaving the wires on the swing exposed safe? wont the hammies chew on them?

StuCil
09-27-2012, 01:15 AM
Hi thanks silverliner :D! Lol actually I posted on the second page saying that they chew on the wire! :( then the wire is broken off. September suggested using hemp thread, but I havent tried it tho. We need to come up with something that's safe and strong enough to support the swing as the hams actually loved the swing

Thank you Amazing amy! I use a non toxic white glue called "Amos", I don't know if you have that in your country, but someone also suggested Copydex. As long as it is labelled as non toxic or safe for children I guess it should be fine :)
