Harley, Lutino, Female

Harley is approx 3/4 years old. I was given her by a lady who could no longer look after her. She only has one leg but it doesn't stop her at all. I her her my 'hop along'

She is very attached to me. She squawks everytime I go out of a room and flies to the door trying to follow me. We let them fly around the living room for a few hours a day and i'm the only person she will let catch her. Mum runs around like a loony trying to get her. All have to do is walk over to her, put my finger out and she hops on.

Gannit, Normal grey, Female

Gannit is also nearly 4 years old. I had to hand rear her after she was booted out of the nest by her mum. She loves preening your hair, eyelashes and eyebrows and whistles every time she can hear you near the cage.

Finley, Normal grey, Male

Finley is another cockatiel we have hand reared due to being rejected by his mum. He is a nearly a year old and is completely in love with Gannit (although she's having none of it) He is definitely the most characterful of the three and loves sitting on his perch, serenading Gan with his tunes.

And the cage they share. The layout has changed around a bit since then and they have been moved into the dining room. It can't be too full with perches/toys as Harley sometimes finds it difficult getting around

They get about let out into the living room at around 8 every morning and get put away when mum goes to work at 12. They then get let out again when Dad gets home at 5 for another couple of hours :)

I don't think Finley is really mature enough yet as he has only just recently grown his adult feathers (the yellow on his face). He used to look like Gannit so we wasn't 100% sure of his sex. Gannit has never shown any interest and Finley shows no interest in Harley.

Gannit laid eggs last year but they weren't fertile (it was just her and a budgie in the cage). Sounds a bit horrible, but any eggs that are laid/we be laid are frozen and destroyed. We have to place dummy eggs in the cage if we have to remove any as birds will keep popping them out if they notice they have gone!

Huh. I know with chickens, if you don't remove the eggs they get broody, stop eating and spend all their time looking after the eggs, even if they don't hatch. I assumed it was the same with other birds :)

It is the opposite with out tiels (especially the aviary tiels). They seem to keeping laying them over and over until they have a batch they can sit on ;)

Here's a couple of videos of Finley trying to woo Gannit

In this video Gan is on the floor eating and Fin is on his shelf whistling to her. He does this a lot :)

And in this one he is walking up and down the perch doing his 'wings'. He opens them up a little to look more impressive I think. Gan is clearly having none of it

I'm trying to teach him to wolf whistle so you can hear my pathetic attempts a few times. I try and pronounce each sound so he understands. He does stop whistling and look/listen to me so I think he's learning!

If you want him to wolf whistle every time you go into the room you could bring it up on YouTube and play it to him

It took Vinyl no time to learn to whistle and he umm learnt the hilter whistle

I've been sitting in the room with him wolf whistling over and over :) He is starting to pick it up, he just needs to define the sound.

I taught our last male cockatiel, George, to wolf whistle. It was so cute. He was slightly younger than Finley though so it was easier for him to pick up :)

Oh your cockatiel are so beautiful. I have always had a love for these little guys. I had many friends that owned them as I was growing up, and they were ridiculously friendly. Had to call my boyfriend to let him see these little cuties. He was just as mesmerized by them as I was. :)
