Well, I survived my first show - and am fresh back from Asda, loaded down with rice pudding, tofu, and all other kinds of hamster goodies! :)

I'm pretty chuffed with our first efforts - Bob and Hobbs both scored well, and received Reserve placings (not bad for pet shop hammies!); and I got plenty of tips for making sure they score even better next time - hence the Asda run! :D

A big thanks to everyone who helped me through the proceedings - Nooboo for her patience with a complete novice; Spud's Mum, Yaffle, Holly and Souffle, for seeing me through the day; and a big thanks for Carrington for... well, you'll have to wait until this evening, but keep an eye on the the Syrian forum :x

I had a good day, and I think you'll be definitely seeing me again - especially if you're going to let me cuddle all your gorgeous hammies! :)

Sorry if I missed anyone out!

Hey Gus great to see you had a good day. When you get five you'll have to share what you have learned with those of us that are too far away to attend shows, or don't get the opportunity to go... aww and to top it off you get to meet forum members

Looking forward to reading your later post...... what have you been up to I wonder?

We had a good day too Gus, and it was lovely to meet you and the lovely Alex. Just as nice to meet Bob who is as beautiful in real life as on video, but with more obvious peachy markings :D and the so sweet little Hobbs, who is going to grow into a beautiful hamster. And didn't they do well too?

I had a really good scoring day, and a day of 'so near and yet so far'
Butterbean came 4th out of 13, but scored higher than ever before,
Amelie came 4th too in her class
And Princess, my P@H special got a 3rd place and scored 75.5 points!! :x *squeals of excitement*

I also got 2nd and 4th place in the novice class too.

We watched Anita hypnotise Holly's Robo Bean, and generally had a lovely day.
:D

We had a lovely day too - it was very nice to meet you and Al, Gus - I had the shock of my life when I saw Al at the ....er.....later when you've posted your news

Bob and Hobbs did really, really well, you know (bet you are hooked now :P ).

We got a first! Not with Smarts who's always been our best scorer (I looked at the score sheet quickly at the end and I think it said she was a bit fat   ) ...but with ...wait for it .....MINNIE

Minnie won SH Satin and Intermediate (we also got second, third and fourth Intermediate - as we were the only ones :P )

We also got a third in LH Satin (Molly) and a Third in non-standard (Toby) as well as a reserve in SH Cream for little Milly (sounds good but it was out of four  ). At least she wasn't last in the whole show this time :P

Brilliant day for us, looking forward to Alcester next week now (and we didn't come away from the sales table with any new additions - Sheryl had some lovely SH Black girls - if one had been a boy....... :? ).

Bob and Hobbs did really, really well, you know (bet you are hooked now

Ha, it was convenient it worked out like that - I think that made a big difference for Al, us coming away with something to show for it :)

Minnie was amazing; as was Yet, who made Bob look tinyi; Dubaku was a joy to play with (I will be kidnapping him next time, just so you know); Amelie and Sabine were as gorgeous in the flesh as online; Aero I could have held all day; and as for Bean... :D

I've posted my news - and owe Spud's Mum a pint, for losing our bet. Having had a quick play with Yaffle's beautiful Golden baby, it was a short trip to her Black sisters - and thus we now have Wesley, courtesy of Carrington Hams - thanks Sheryl!!!

I have a fridge full of tofu, rice pudding and porridge now - and, fingers crossed, Hobbs, Bob and Wes should be making a reappearance in April :)

I'm here!!!

It was a great day out, with loads of gorgeous hammies! I was pen stewarding and learnt a lot from Andrew Bryan, the judge. I was also honoured to be asked to judge the pets!!!

Napoleon didn't do very well, being tiny, thin-coated and tatty but extremely cute, but our Dwarfs did! Kipton, Bingley and Pringle got 1st in their classes, and...

KIPTON GOT BEST IN SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

I'm really proud of my Tiddling Men (as I call the Dwarfies  ) as they have had 3 BISs between them! Kippy also got Junior Best in Show, Grand Challenge and Pearl. Bingley got Sapphire and 2nd in Junior, and Pringle got Non Standard.

Anyway, here are some pics from the day!

Congratulations, Pophammy (and they are absolutely GORGEOUS rosettes - to go with a gorgeous hammy). Sheryl did mention Kipton when I was talking to her - she said he was not only gorgeous and in superb condition but also incredibly tame as well 8)

Anita - I though you and Dave made superb show secs, you were incredibly organised (I loved the super-efficient email response to my entries 8) ) and I thought it was a superb day - thank you :)

And thanks for hypnotising my Beany Boy

I agree, I'd be scared of them biting me

Hm..I wonder how often someone gets bitten whilst judging...whenever I enter Charlie into pets I'm terrified he's gunna bite  even though he's never bit anyone before

Gust0o

I didn't think Will needed circling - I don't think you could miss him, with all his winnings! :D

He's gone skiing?! I love skiing! Of course, it's probably no fun being at home!

It isn't really - the house is so quiet (and tidy) that it feels weird - but a good time for baby hammies to be born, I guess!
