Hello Everyone,

Well I thought I would show you my old girl. Mandy is a special girl to me, she is the reason why I started making dwarf hamster mix's so you can either cheer her or blame her ;).

She's a pet shop hybrid Manderin/Argente colour. She is 27 month & 11 day's old. I count every day now as I know we will run out one day :).

She`s a lovely colour and you must be very proud of her Silver. She has a lovely body condition. Just goes to show that even a hybrid can prove to be strong and live a long life. I actually wondered if the term `hybrid` meant (in dog terms) cross breed or mongrel? When you think about it, many cross bred dogs are actually healthier and longer lived than their pedigree counterparts, so hybrid hamsters might pove to be the same, although they can be genetically prone to diabetes and obesity, but if fed the correct, sugar-free diet and kept well, I don`t see why hybrids can`t be seen (and accepted) as great little russian dwarf hamsters in their own right! :) Mandy is testiment to that.

Thank You Rh & Fluffymunchkins,

She is very dear to my heart & although she is totally blind through catarax she is still enjoying life. I heard her running on her wheel last night because she has some seeds on her wheel I could hear they being shot off the wheel against the side of her rub lol.
