My girl Gemma passed away early Saturday morning. She brought so much joy to us, but Friday afternoon, she was diagnosed with Cushing's disease... I am very happy that she did not have to suffer long and that she got to spend all night cuddling and playing with mommy and daddy and got to pass peacefully. She loved her mom and dad and would have played with us all day, every day, if she could. One day, I fell asleep on the couch, and I awoke to Gemma running up and down my body. I am not sure how she escaped or how she got onto the couch! She was always the daredevil, "skydiving" (or attempting to) from our arms or any other high area. She was a princess... she got anything and everything she could ever want. She has a gigantic cage and playpen, 2 igloos, 2 wheels, 2 balls, a playground with a slide...and a red car (has a wheel to let her move the car around).
Have fun running with no cages ever again, Gem! Mommy and Daddy will never forget you!!
Hope everyone enjoys the pictures. These are a few of my favorites... Gem eating beans, snuggling in mommy's Notre Dame blanket, trying to escape by pushing down the latch to her cage with her mouth (one of her favorite passtimes that mommy always had to rescue her from!), being a diva, and eating an apple core (the last picture mommy took of her). She is also in my avatar picture eating. I wanted to make this tribute to her so I could remember all the joy and happiness she brought and to remind myself that she is in a better place with no pain or disease.
I love you, Gemma Lou 2011-3/24/12
