Degu

Posting this in case anyone knows a degu lover. Was in the Folkestone (SE Kent) branch of p@h today and they have a degu in one of the little hamster adoption cages. He is clearly going stir crazy with so little space in there. Felt so sorry for him in there but I just don't have the room for him and know fairly little about them.

Hopefully someone will adopt him soon but if anyone lives near and is a degu lover, here's a heads up.

What a shame. Degus should be kept in pairs wher possible and PAH should be trying to get this lone degu into a proper home, but it`s anyone`s guess as to whether this will happen. I really wish they would stop selling degus and chinchillas and leave it to proper breeders. Both these species are classed more as `exotics` and need a special diet. Not just shoved onto a PAH muesli. Even degus in rescue are notoriously difficult to rehome, so pet shops would do well to stop adding to those numbers. And pigs might fly...I know...
