Keeping Your Prize Cards?

After yesterday I've now a fair few prize cards (eek is that showing off? :oops: ) and I'm finding it difficult to remember who actually won them.

I'm thinking of getting a small box file system and making a card for each of my hamsters - then I can insert the relelvent prize cards into each hamster's slot when I get them.

What do you think? Does anyone have a different/better system?

I put them over 2 pinboards and just write the hammies name on the top in small letters :)

I also keep a spreadsheet of what the points were and what they got but I lost most of the data when my harddrive was wiped near Christmas. Unfortunately the data I am missing is of RIP hams that the data doesn't really matter now but it would be nice to be able to remember it :(

When I had the rabbits I had a card index file with all their breeding details on the cards and I used to keep prize cards in the back of the box. (I had too many rabbits for a section for each rabbit :shock: )
I used to write their names on the back of the cards and rossettes so I could remember who won what. I still have a huge box of rossettes in my wardrobe.

I think I'm going to do an card index file thingy - I can make extra cards with litters that any hamster has or fathers as well - I might ask your advice on how to do it the best way, Gill :wink:

ah-ha, something i can help with :D
i stick the sticker from the pen on the back and write in pencil who won it. then i put them into one of those photo albums where it opens like a book and there's two rows of flip-up photo holders. it holds a lot of cards! i aren't even half way through it yet. i got a lovely winnie-the-pooh one from tesco extra for only about £5.

We have a book which we stick the prize cards into, with the heading of the show it was and then the hamster's names and what classes they got. Our rosettes have the ham's name written on the back and what it was for, and are all on a giant rosette-shaped pinboard in the hammy room! :lol:

Here are the pics of our show book and rossette board. Sorry its been soooo long, it took me ages to getting round to taking the pics, and then I didn't get a chance to go onto the forum. Anway here they are!

We also have a giant pink rossette-shaped board hanging in our hammy room for displaying all our rossettes ~ you can barely see it as it's quite full! :wink:

Hmm I think you have some wonderful ideas there PH - but it will be sometime until I can fill a book or noticeboard like you have!

Never mind, in the show that is Teresa's show, my hamsters all get joint first and the hugest rosettes possible! :shock: :wink:

love the book! i'll take a pic of mine... no where near as special as that, but it gives you an idea. unfortunately i have nowhere to really display my rosettes so they're pinned onto a throw over my shelves in my room and they're so cramped you can't see the wood for the trees!

i stick the pen labels on the back of the cards. you can slide the cards out to see the labels.

edit: on photobucket these are re-sized and rotated but it's posted them in the original form!! PB is SO annoying!!

edit again: oh... now they ARE smaller and rotated on here.... *bangs head on desk*

You both put me to shame (mine are stuffed in a folder :? ).

I now know what I'm on the look out for - a really nice large book that I can stick them in with drawings and photos (Will says Hamtaro :P ).

As Teresa says it will be along time (if ever :? ) until I have cards and rosettes like yours - wow, Pophammy, what wonderful memories they must all bring back 8)
