Our 'little miracle' dwarf hamster, Athena has died in her sleep. Ruth, my son's partner adopted her with her brother and sister when they lived with us. When they left home she asked if I would look after them as they needed to do work on their new house. Athena had a huge tumour removed from her abdomen and we were prepared for the worst but she pulled through. Six months ago the cancer came back, this time in her mouth. The vet said nothing could be done but said as long as she was eating and having a good quality of life he would treat her as much as he could. She was 26 months old. Ruth took her home as she wanted to be with her. She outlived her little brother Juno by three weeks.

She was the most loving, sociable, little friend you could ever want. She never did stop biting though.
Night, night my beautiful little Athena. xxx
