He is a completely laid-back character just like his Dad, we all love him to bits here.

Thanks for your comments. I love all my hamsters but watching the 4 babies we kept grow from little pinkies into adults has been a bit special.
I am taking him to Highworth to see how he gets on and I'm also bringing Pudding and Truffle.
I always worry he hasn't got enough coat!! I don't groom him very often at all actually, about once a week at the most. I sort of tidy him up with my fingers.
This is a photo I took of Truffle last night. I never get a decent photo of Truffle, she is so cute in the flesh but her photos never do her justice. I have a feeling that she will not enjoy the show much, she is not as laid-back as Pud & Gizmo but she will be on maternal duties after the show so it may be her one and only outing.

This is Pudding who now weighs just shy of 1/2 lb! The rest of the family insist she is a tail-less rat. She has inherited her dad's calm laid-back nature in spades.

Finally Runty, who isn't going to Highworth because I can only hire 3 show pens and he still has a bit of growing to catch up with the other 3, although he is getting there fast. I adore Runty, he is the liveliest and most inquisitive of the 4 babies and as most of you know he had 2 prospective pet homes who changed their minds. Well their loss - my gain, he is a fabulous pet.

Hope you've enjoyed catching up with my babies :D

They are all lovely but Runty is adorable and I've a soft spot for him as well as he was so nearly taken to a new home twice and then not. I think he's got the best deal by staying with you

What a shame I cant get to Highworth! I would have loved to have met your lovely girls and boys!
They are all really beautiful and have such sweet faces - they have really done you proud (and Chunky and Berry), Gill - what a lovely first litter they were/are! :x
I will be really interested in the comments for Gizmo in the judging book - you will have to share them with Julie and I so we can get some ideas on roan judging!
Will Gizmo be able to get in young stock? when is the show?

Thanks Teresa (Berry did most of the work though, with a little help from Chunky). I wish you were able to come to HIghworth too, it would be lovely to finally meet up and see your hamsters also. I think Julie is coming so she can show me how to look in the judging book because I don't know anything
The show is not until 23rd Feb so they will be too old for young stock.

Hi Basia

Have just picked up this thread, they are GORGEOUS. I must admit to being surprised when you said before that Runty had 2 prospective homes as he is such a sweetie, but quite rightly their loss was your gain :)

The colours are very attractive.

I am trying to persuade OH to go to the show on 23rd Feb, just to look obviously, as showing would be very far in the future for me if at all, but I would love to get an idea of type and colour.

Hi Catja,
Hope you are able to go to the show, I think you will really enjoy it. I went to Cardiff last April and a display in October and it is really nice to see all the show hamsters and the varieties of colours. I arranged to buy a hamster from a breeder at the Cardiff show, ended up with a pair and started this whole hamster breeding/showing path

To be fair to the 2 prospective owners of Runty, they never actually met him. They changed their minds before they came to collect him. I'm really glad they did now because he is such a delightful character.
