Smoo and I adopted to new pets into the family. Ferrets! They came from a not so favorable situation. We were planning on adopting a pair sometime after Christmas, but these two girls came to light and we decided to rescue them.
We don't know much about them, other then they have been altered and desented. Mint is the larger with some grayish fur and Tangy is the white one and considerably smaller then Mint. The person we got them from says she only had them for a week, that she had gotten them without her room mates permission and was then forced to get rid of them. Before that they were apparently adopted out by another family who said they rescued them from some crewel owners that were going to make them live out doors. If this is all correct Smoo and I would be their fourth home!
Smoo has owned ferrets in the past, before he met me. This is my first experience with them and I am in love! The smaller one Tangy seems a bit under weight to me. They were being fed a poor quality food and it shows in the texture of their fur. They were also being continuously sprayed with this "baby fresh" ferret spritz which I'm sure didn't help matters.
They seem to be settling into out home very well, We finally finished the ferret proofing today. They have plenty of time to run and explore. In fact Tangy for the first time wore her self out and voluntarily went to sleep in her cage. Mean while Mint has been curled up and passed out in my the pant drawer of my dresser.
We have ordered in some good quality ferret food for them, and in the next few weeks will try and get them into a vet for their checkups and shots. I have a few pictures to share of course! They both have great dispositions. Mint was a bit nippy but with quick corrections she seems to have stopped already.
